Exploding kittens was originally launched on kickstarter in January 2015 by the likes of Elan Lee, The Oatmeal and Shane + Kellee Vopelak. The exploding kittens kickstarter was a roaring success and has gone on to continue to do well in 2019. to note, the artwork and game design was created by the Oatmeal an excellent cartoonist.
